The beginnings were small offering classic example of the enterprising Punjabi spirit. In the early days of the country’s independence post partition in 1947, the legendary Pahwa Brothers dreamt of providing the common man an affordable means of mobility.

In the early days of the country’s independence post partition in 1947, the legendary Pahwa Brothers dreamt of providing the common man an affordable means of mobility. They started with a bicycle saddles and brakes manufacturing unit in 1948 and set off on a long and arduous journey. Soon, it was time for an ambitious take-off. To realise their cherished dream, the business was incorporated in 1952. To produce bicycles, the company Avon Cycles came into being. A beginning was made when the first batch, perhaps 250 bicycles, rolled out of the plant.

In customer relations, the company prefers to stay a shade different from the rest. By internalising the phenomenon called customer it relies on his feedback. Many of its innovations are born in such a co-operative environment. ‘Aap ne sujhaayi, hum ne banaayi’ meaning ‘we made it exactly as per your suggestion’ has been its advertising refrain.
